Many people who regularly use a rowing machine at home or in their local gym have been crying out for a better way to track their performance for quite a while now because most LCD displays only really tell you the basics, such as time, distance, calories and strokes, for example.
In addition, a lot of serious rowers have long been waiting for someone to come up with a way to connect with other rowing machines in order to compete against them and have a proper race because it’s not always easy to find someone suitable to race against in the gym.
So I am pleased to reveal that a new rowing app from LiveRowing is coming soon that is capable of doing both of these things, and will really add a lot of excitement to what can be a fairly dull rowing machine workout.
This LiveRowing app is designed to be used with the Concept 2 rowers, such as this Concept 2 Model D rower, for example, which is one of the best and most widely used machines amongst fitness pros and professional rowers.
If you watch the video above, you will see that once it is connected to the Concept 2 rowing machine using the LiveRowing Connect cable, you can then race against yourself and track your performance over time by trying to beat your personal best time, for example.
It can also be used to set yourself challenges, which will act as a useful motivational tool and should help you to become a much stronger and fitter rower in the long run.
However what really makes this app stand out is the fact that you can also race against your friends, or indeed other rowers from all over the world, which promises to be a lot of fun, particularly as it is supposedly very easy to find people similar to yourself to race against.
Unfortunately I haven’t yet been able to find out when this app will be available, but I understand that it is set to launch in the next few months, with April 2015 mooted as a possible launch date on one website.
So in the meantime I suggest you visit the official LiveRowing website for all the latest news.
